Outfit of the Day: Fashion Conscious Gentleman

Outfit of the Day: Fashion Conscious Gentleman

Woah, it’s truly been a long time since I last blogged. But this new style of mine has really impacted on others (positively), as I type this I’m currently dressed in this outfit, for a night out with family.

Here it is…!!!!

20130405-091030 PM.jpg

This look is really cool! Especially because it was affordable, worth it and classic! A majority of this outfit was from H&M’s conscious collection. I normally think H&M is too basic for my personal taste, but their special collections always find a way into my weak fashion obsessed heart! The items from the collection included, the blazer (£30) which is a beautiful bright olive green colour. Everything in this collection is organic and real material. The green blazer is a must-have for spring time, it kept me warm and comfy!

Another item from the collection is the blue textures scarf (£9), which compliments the olive tone. You may not be able to see the shirt in the image above, but I’m wearing a shirt also from H&M’s collection (£10). This is also very flattering and comfortable! So worth the money! The skinny jeans and grey stone shoes are from Topman and Aldo! My accessories include an exclusive personalised bracelet from H&M’s Dragon Tattoo Collection, which I personalised with studs and a real gold Versace ring with the logo. You need a little bling to jazz up an outfit!

This image (below) allows you to see closer and in more detail of the shirt and how well they contrast with the blazer!

This image (above) shows a close up of then shirt cuff at the arm and my accessories in detail. I love bracelets and rings, creating my own personal style. These accessories made my outfit more smart casual. Perfect for an evening out or a day trip in town!

Would love some feedback and comments on what you think about this style?!

Spring Must-Have: Straw Hat

Spring Must-Have: Straw Hat

Spring is nearly here (21st March to be exact), and I have seen a spring of trends, but the one that has caught my eye recently is the Straw Hat.

I’m not the one who usually wears hats, but the Straw Hat looks good. I actually tried these on and they actually flatter my large head.

My current trip to London (my favourite city), my walk around Knightsbridge high street where I spotted the trend. I walked into one of my go-to shops, Reiss, where I spotted an amazing hat. (Below – Reiss hat for £49.99, a gorgeous blue)

This hat also comes in a yellow colour (below).

If the Reiss hat is not your style, there’s an alternative hat from Zara Man. For an affordable £19.99, here’s this option.

Blazer Fashion

Blazer Fashion

No matter what the weather, Blazers are always in trend. The best thing about Blazers is that you can buy many different fabric blazers to suit any weather conditions. Another thing which is great, is that Blazers will instantly give a preppy/smart look to any casual or formal outfit.

A recent Blazer I have purchased is from Zara Man. This gorgeous Blazer is perfect for this cold weather as its made from a two cotton blend of white and black fabric, Blazer (pictured below), cost a reasonable £59.99 and is very comforting and warm. Overall, a perfect piece to accompany a trip out on the town, a pair of black jeans, coloured brogues and a cotton shirt would be ideal.

Another blazer which I also own is from high end store ‘Reiss’ which was on sale from £250 to £120. I literally picked up the last one at my local store. This luxurious emerald velvet blazer is so stunning and rich in colour. It is made for a cocktail hour or an occasion out, a ball/prom or wedding. I have been saving this blazer for the right occasion, which I would probably stick to the classic black trousers and a white shirt. (Pictured below)

Another Blazer from Topman is a very classic casual style. This Harris Tweed Blazer works really well with a casual look, a pair of blue jeans and a blue shirt. I pair this with brown or dark purple skinny trousers and a pair of brown brogues.

Blazers are very on trend and I recommend all men to own at least one Blazer. No matter what occasion, a Blazer will help you look and feel smart & confident! Let me know what you think about these blazers!

POP of Fashion

POP of Fashion

I always like wearing bright colours. Colours which make people look twice and I like wearing colours which compliment each other. This doesn’t mean go out wearing a pair of neon green jeans to the park, it means enhancing your style with a pop of colour. I like wearing bright colours very in a very understated way.

For example, the way I use bright colours in my wardrobe is to wear navy blue jeans and wooden brogues with fluorescent pair of socks which creates a whole new meaning to the outfit and just that little bit more exciting. As you can see from the image (below) it’s a very bright and luminous colour to wear, but it’s such a small piece of clothing on the outfit, meaning it won’t be on display, yet subtle hints will pop through and stand out. This preppy image creates a fun, carefree attitude when it comes to fashion.

Another understated way to show bright colour, is through contrasting two darker shades, which still pop out.
This electric blue leather jacket really stands out against the mustard cotton shirt, which is quite mute, yet stands out without being over-the-top. (Below), the use of gold accessories with this enhance the muted bright colours for an expensive look.

20130219-023230 PM.jpg

As yellow is a very bright colour, in the image (below) I have paired a bright yellow shirt with a black leather jacket and jeans which makes it look very indie and preppy. I like the idea of using bright colours and mixing them with dark leather or tweed. Darker jumpers with bright collars also look great!

20130219-023455 PM.jpg

Hope you love the use of colour I have used in my daily fashion. Bright pops of colour make everyone think you’re wearing a different outfit. I love colour, it truly expresses what personal fashion aims to express. Try it out!

Hope you can give me feedback on what you would like to see. Thanks!

Walk the Walk

Walk The Walk

You cannot complete an outfit without a pair of amazing shoes to compliment them. So I’ve researched some amazing shoes for you to keep an eye on.

This pair is an amazing trainer from Alexander McQueen for Puma. I love the texture of this trainer, it’s like that it has breathable gills on the side. It’s a very street style shoe, which suits skinny jeans and a graphic tee. The price is just under £200 and can be purchased from retailers such as Harvey Nichols, Selfridges and Independent designer stores.

I really like loafers. I think it suits a smarter wardrobe and are also very comforting. I picked this black studded loafer from Aldo (£80, below) and I’d pair this velvet treat with high cropped chinos or jeans, showing the ankle, giving a European fashion look. Pair if with a dark blazer and a casual tee for a brilliant combination. Silver jewellery included anywhere else on the outfit also works.

20130217-083615 PM.jpg

Brogues are also important when wearing a smart outfit. Here (below) is a smart brogue which can be worn with many outfits and colours. It’s at a reasonable (£70) and dress casual and smart when doing so. A tweed jacket and black skinny jeans/trousers would go well with these brogues also.

20130217-084057 PM.jpg

Here are three types of current styles of shoes. I will constantly update more shoe styles so you know what’s on trend. Which one do you like? How would you pair the shoes and outfits? Let me know!

Scarf-face the Fashion

Scarf-Face the Fashion

Another accessory I love to wear in the winter and I can truly have fun with are Scarves!

I always wear a scarf, whether it’s in the cold winter or an evening out, it automatically compliments any attire.

There are so many styles of scarves. Either thin cotton types, or chunky knit wear. From ascots to snoods. So many to choose from!

20130215-041010 PM.jpg

(Above) is a 100% cotton scarf in navy blue from high street brand ‘River Island’ which is very simple and can make a casual outfit very sophisticated and cool. You could also pair it with a suit or a dark pea coat.

This chunky knit scarf (below) from Zara man is a very fashionable item. I love the style of how it’s wrapped around, as it keeps you warm in the winter chill and turns heads when you walk by.

The black scarf (below left) is very understated yet this reminds me of Johnny Depp, making it very relaxed and effortlessly stylish. A blazer and a scarf work very well together, especially when it’s thin and light in weight.

20130215-041346 PM.jpg

For those dressing to impress, silk scarves are very suited towards working men. Silk scarves add an elegant ‘tinge’ to the smart casual look, and on guys define expense and class. Silk scarves are usually patterned, yet I think you should stick with heavily patterned silk than a plain one. (Look below)

20130215-043343 PM.jpg

I love this scarf (below) especially because of the pop of colour and the design. It really contrasts well with the check design and the beige coat. Try and contrast well, it always looks fashionable to take a risk.

20130215-043422 PM.jpg

Another example is how to contrast a scarf is choosing a darker colour and putting it with bright or moody colours. (Below) is my check black and white squared scarf with an army green jacket which works well.

I hope this explained how scarves can enhance a look instantly without changing the outfit & best of all, it keeps you warm and stylish! Feedback welcome! Please share this around.

Trend: Fifty Shades of Colour Combining

Trend: Fifty Shades of Colour

No I’m not going to be discussing anything inappropriate even though it is Valentine’s Day. I’m going to show another trend which I believe is stand out and great in terms of restyling your owned clothing.

As (shown below), I have paired the colour green, using softer shades. Pastel is trending at the moment in fashion and I opted for a light emerald shirt, a ink green pair of jeans and a sea green matching belt with gold accents. The option of wearing the Blazer is up to you, which is also a light mint green.

None of these shades of green are too out of the box, rather they blend and contrast well together. It again categorises itself with the preppy/smart-casual attire. I think it’s suitable for men of all ages. I highly recommend contrasting light and slightly darker shades than choosing two ends of a colour spectrum.

20130214-023940 PM.jpg

I think when deciding on how to put an outfit together, especially similar shades, you should have a good understanding of what each individual piece of clothing brings to the relationship of combining colours. For example, this combination of an Armani fall outfit of 2011/12 displays how the colour grey can look effective.

20130214-025150 PM.jpg

Besides the statement coat, this shows how the different combinations of Grey can work effectively together. It is quite similar to wearing a suit. You may have every piece which is matching, yet you could make it more unique by adding a silver or shiny grey tie, or accessories such as black leather gloves with metal accents. The coat could also range from black, navy or the daring option of silver. Shoes should always compliment the outfit as a whole, as it finishes the outfit off, in order for yourself to look good.

20130214-025835 PM.jpg

This outfit (above) plays with the option of creating the contrast by wearing a black shirt. Yet, the silver tie compliments the darker shade and suits the whole outfit. I think at a wedding this should be encouraged more, while you’re at work try to use a lighter shirt to create a casual look. Try this look on any romantic occasion as well, such as this Valentine’s Day.

Any feedback on how to work with your shades and contrasting, ask me for some feedback or any of your colour combining issues. Thanks
